I'm not drunk, I just want a kid!

That's pretty much how 1st Samuel gets started. So God gets Hannah knocked up & she's thrilled about it, but then she takes the kid to live with a priest in the temple. ( no you didn't hear about this on Springer )
It turns out that the Priest (Eli - who's a pretty old man by now) has sons that are not nice boys. They were in the habit of seducing women who would come to make offerings to God in the temple. They'd also have BBQ's with the animal sacrifices. (just a couple examples of their messed up thinking)

So God asks Eli "Why do you give your sons more honor than you give me—for you and they have become fat from the best offerings of my people of Israel!"
1 Sam. 2:30 "Therefore, the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I promised that your branch of the tribe of Levi would always be my priests. But I will honor those who honor me, and I will despise those who think lightly of me. 31 The time is coming when I will put an end to your family, so it will no longer serve as my priests. All the members of your family will die before their time. None will reach old age. 32 You will watch with envy as I pour out prosperity on the people of Israel. But no members of your family will ever live out their days. 33 Those who survive will live in sadness and grief, and their children will die a violent death. 34 And to prove that what I have said will come true, I will cause your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, to die on the same day!

Can you imagine how much Samuel must have hated these living arrangements....
What a stressful existence....
However, (in the midst of this chaos) little Samuel is growin' up, being prepared to be used in huge ways by God.

Thought: our circumstances may appear to suck.... but God can absolutely use them to mold us, & us to change them.

Taken from 1st Samuel 1 - 3:34

Woo Hoo !

So here it is.... the 1st LJ blog, and I get to write it.
So what DO I say.

How about this....

My hope with having blogs from the Life Journey Worship Arts team is that we would encourage each other & our readers.
How will that happen?
- through little commentaries of what we've been reading in the bible or other books
- maybe by sharing new cd's or videos we've been exposed to
- answers to prayer
- humorous stories

the possibilities are endless

so if you are so inclined, click on "Follow This Blog" and join us on this new part of the journey.
